The Chicago Federation of Labor Workforce & Community Initiative provide free job training and job placement services that can help you find employment in a variety of industries. Services are tailored to your specific needs and employment goals.

Career Counseling and Job Search Assistance

  • Looking for a new job but don’t know where to start? Applying and not getting responses from employers?  We can help! We provide free one on one assistance to eligible job seekers to help them reach their employment goals. Services include everything from helping with a resume, interview preparation, improving networking skills, to connecting with employers. We have experience across a variety of industries and experience levels, whether you are looking for an entry level position or are an experienced professional struggling to catch employers’ attention.
 

Interested in Updating Skills or Finding a New Career?

  • Is it time for a career change? Do you need to enhance your skills to take your career to the next level? We offer several options for job seekers interested in training – both in the classroom and on the job. One might be a fit for you.
 

Skills Training

  • If you want to build your skills through classroom training, you might be eligible for a training grant up to $8,000 to fund your education. Training vouchers are available for high growth industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, information technology (IT), and transportation and logistics. 
 

Advanced Manufacturing Training H1B One Workforce Grant

  • Interested in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering? The H1B One Workforce Program, funded by the US Department of Labor, can provide financial assistance to obtain industry-recognized credentials and job opportunities in the manufacturing sector by paying for tuition, books, and fees at one of our approved training provider partners.

    Start on a career path in Advanced Manufacturing today and earn credentials towards certificates and degrees:

  • If you are a hands-on learner, or if you would like to learn new skills while earning a paycheck, you can speak with our team about On-the-Job Training. We partner with businesses who hire new talent they train while at work. Opportunities are available in a wide range of industries and occupations.
 

Apprenticeships

  • If you are interested in a registered apprenticeship, we can help. Through our partners, we are able to link job seekers with assistance preparing for apprenticeship entrance exams and available openings in a variety of industries and trades.
 

Workshops

  • We offer a variety of workshops to prepare you to be successful in your job search and career development.

Computers, Internet Access, Printers, and Phones

  • We have the equipment and technology to help you with your job search available in our Resource Rooms.  Due to COVID, usage is by Appointment Only

  • We are part of the Illinois Worknet System. When a job seeker works with us, they are also connecting with the resources and opportunities available through all our partners across Cook County. If we can’t assist you with an issue, we might have a partner who can.
